Dr. Shaun P. McKenzie joins Lexington Surgical Specialists in a dual role as a practicing Surgical Oncologist and as Medical Director of Oncology Services for Baptist Health Lexington. Dr McKenzie graduated from Washington and Lee University where he was a two sport athlete and received All-America Honors two consecutive years. He graduated from Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine in 2001 and completed a general surgical residency and research fellowship at the University of Kentucky. He obtained his Surgical Oncology Fellowship at City of Hope National Medical Center in conjunction with advanced Hepatobiliary training at University of Southern California Hospitals.
He previously was Assistant Professor of Surgery at University of Kentucky followed by spending over four years in private practice in Austin, Texas. He was excited to return to Kentucky and continue to provide oncology care to the citizens of the Commonwealth. He practices general surgical oncology with advanced expertise in liver and pancreatic tumors, esophageal and stomach tumors, and minimally invasive approaches to abdominal malignancy.
His wife Kristi is an accomplished OB/Gyn and they have 3 children: Connor, Madison and Gavin. He spends his time outside of work with his family enjoying the outdoors.
